Meet Teppo Rantanen

Teppo is currently one of three executive directors at the City of Tampere, responsible for growth, innovation and competitiveness. Within this role, he leads 1800 people in 6 service groups. He has responsibility over economic policy, innovation, government relations, city attractiveness, employment services, city big development projects (including smart city project SmartTampere), second degree education and city land and building assets and housing policy.

 

Teppo served as Country Managing Partner and CEO at Deloitte Finland during 2002-2014 before transferring to a global TMT (Technology, Media & Telecom) industry role at Deloitte UK, where he served as a Senior Partner, Deloitte UK & Finland 2014-2016. He has vast experience in technology & telecommunications, banking and manufacturing industries. He has been responsible for and involved in a wide range of professional services assignments and has broad expertise in working with international and multinational companies and clients worldwide. Teppo was part of TMT global industry leadership team and led Deloitte Global TMT Eminence Board, and was responsible for Internet of Things and New Ecosystems in the Digital Age – initiatives within Deloitte. Teppo was also a Global Lead Client Service Partner for Finland Based Global Telco/Technology company and the EMEA Lead Client Service Partner for Silicon Valley Based Global Technology Company.Before joining Deloitte Teppo was the Nordic leader of Andersen Risk Consulting, based out of Stockholm and prior to that CEO of Arthur Andersen Kihlman Oy in Finland.

 

Teppo is strongly committed to sustainability and he believes in the joining of forces of the public, private and third sectors. Teppo served two terms as Chairman of the Board of The American Chamber of Commerce in Finland between 2005 and 2009. Currently he acts as the Chairman for The Finnish Children and Youth Foundation and was Chairman of Museum of Contemporary Art Kiasma Foundation 2011-2014. In addition, Teppo sat on the board of Unicef Finland 2011-2017 and now at the Board of World Vision Finland.
